Yoga at the Workplace – Galway

This will be a free workshop to introduce practices, techniques and gentle, as well as the more dynamic, aspects of yoga into the workplace.
The benefits of yoga can be practiced in many ways- with or without a yoga mat.
In this workshop I will introduce some gently breath awareness exercises, gentle movements and mindfulness techniques than can be practiced anywhere – even from your office chair.
I will also include a dynamic asana (posture) sequence which will encourage movement of the body and can help in removing stiffness and pain that may have built up in the body over time – while helping to clear and stimulate healthy functions of all systems of the body; circulatory, nervous, respiratory, digestive, endocrine.

Especially for those who sit for long hours at work, working from a computer or at a desk, standing on your feet for long periods of time, it can affect all parts of the body – shoulders, torso, neck, lower back, hips, feet and legs. I will share some asanas (postures) from the Hatha and Ashtanga system of yoga that can be practiced by all, at any level and can be modified based on any limitations or otherwise within the body.
The workshop will end with a deep relaxation (Yoga Nidra) which relaxes and calms the whole body, mind and energetic system. (And all you have to do is lie down and relax 🙂 )
Yoga mats will be provided (feel free to bring your own along) and we will end the morning with some tea, healthy snacks and a chat or opportunity for any questions.

Clair Carter is a 200 hr RYT certitified Yoga teacher and has been practicing and studying Yoga and meditation since 2010. Clair has spent time in Ireland, the UK, Europe and numerous trips to India practicing and studying with senior authorized Ashtanga yoga teachers as well as spending one year living and working in a yoga retreat centre where she completed a year long Yoga teacher training.
As well as yoga Clair has a deep mediation practice and has attended and managed several silent 10 – day meditaiton retreats here in Ireland, in monasteries in the UK as well as in Asia.
Clair teaches regular yoga classes and workshops in Tuam and Galway.
